The Art of Poetry is a quarterly reading of ekphrastic poetry inspired by current exhibits at the Hickory Museum of Art in Hickory, NC. The readings are typically held on the third Saturdays of March, June, September, and December. Anyone is welcome to write a poem based on the museum’s exhibits and submit it to Hickory poet and CVCC professor, Scott Owens, by the first Saturday of the scheduled reading month. Those selected for the reading will be posted next to the inspiring work in the Museum and online in this blog (with author’s permission). The poet will also be invited to share the poem at the quarterly reading.
This site will be used to share the poems, artwork (when permission is granted), and announcements of the series. Look for the first poem in the next few days, consider subscribing to the site, and please help spread the news by posting links in emails and on your own social media sites.
